Deep Drawn Stamping
SOLUTION BY DESIGN
Fabrication of a Stainless Steel Can
Food Equipment Machinery Industry
A customer in the food equipment machinery industry needed a company with the experience and fabrication capabilities to produce a custom steel can that would come into contact with their food product. As specialists in food service equipment manufacturing, Vollrath Manufacturing Services was contracted to perform all of the required work. Production was carried out utilizing various production techniques and state of the art fabrication systems. Precision deep draw stamping was employed to manipulate the 18 gauge 300 stainless steel to the configuration outlined in the customer supplied 2D CAD drawings. A precise hole was pierced into the part, and the component was treated with annealing, deburring, and an in line washing/aqueous cleaning process. Final dimensions of 16” draw depth by 3.92” in diameter were achieved with this construction.
500 units were produced for this project, made to order for the customer in the Midwest. In-process and post-production visual and dimensional inspections were performed to ensure product integrity. All methods were executed upholding ISO 9002 standards and our internal quality standards.
